 The surprising  ways your body is trying to let you know that shift is required

Change can be really uncomfortable & non of us want to feel uncomfortable, right? When we are constantly running different scenarios over in our minds, having a hard time making choices or struggling to commit to a plan. Sitting on the proverbial fence & making no choice.  Our bodies can start creating symptoms, it can be really hard to tell if this is because of the crappy diet we’ve eaten, or if it’s actually coming from stress & indecision.

There are 5 really common signs & symptoms that my clients present with that they didn’t realize was their body showing them that it’s time for a shift.
 

 

Here are  5 signs your body may be trying to use to tell you its time for change:

 

1-Rapid weight gain or weight loss for no apparent reason - your diet & lifestyle hasn’t changed so why is your body responding with a pendulum swing of weight changes? Weight changes can symbolize unprocessed emotions. When we carry this heavy load around, unaware or unwilling to deal with them. The effects on our physical body can be huge. 

 

2- Experiencing more emotional triggers than normal- Are you finding yourself crying more often than usual, or getting angry & losing your cool at the drop of a hat? Bouncing between feeling high to then low mood? Or experiencing more anxiety?  You’re left wondering what the heck is going on because this isn’t your usual MO! When we have too many paths open of possibility ( because we aren’t able or willing to make a decision on the best path to follow) we start to trigger stack, all the little things that trigger us throughout a day, week, year, or lifetime, pile up and get heavy. Resulting in a straw that broke the camel’s back scenario, and you lose your mind over not having any milk left to go in your tea!

 

3- Identity crisis-  This one is a doozy! & can show up in a few different ways, we wear so many masks throughout our life: mother, wife, boss, and friend, that when we start to remove them & look at what's underneath,  it can be hard to know who you really are & you may be feeling incomplete, so start to borrow the identity of others. Trying them on to see how they feel & see if it's something you can take as your own. Or you’ll revert back to old programming, something that you’ve dug up from your past. It’s comfortable & you don’t have to think too hard about it.- Either of these will keep you in the identity crisis loop because they just won’t fit right. ( A bit like those sexy knickers in your drawer, that look amazing in the sales picture, but the reality is your constant pulling them out of your butt & not feeling as sexy as you look)

 

4- Numbing behaviors - From that 3rd glass of wine or packet of crisps after your back-to-back meetings, to losing 2 hours of your life to mindless scrolling through social media or even dabbling in narcotics. We are great at finding excuses for our numbing behavior. When the reality is we are finding excuses for not addressing our feelings of unfulfillment. If left unchecked these numbing strategies can turn to addiction and burnout.

 

5- Aches & pains- Usually the hips, knees & ankles can symbolize being stuck in a reality, unable or unwilling to step forward onto your highest timeline. A lot of us attribute these aches and pains to getting older, But just because you are no longer in your 20s doesn't mean you can experience vitality & flow of movement. What's more, the minute you buy it and sell it being down to your age. Then guess what, it becomes your reality.  Destroy & uncreate everywhere you've bought & sold the idea that your body will deteriorate as you age! 

 

Here are some tips on how you can work with your body as you’re starting to look at the transformations you’re walking into. 

 

  • Be mindful of what your eating~ Give your body as much clean energy as possible, while you start looking at the transformations you are walking into. Choosing foods that will be supportive of your hormones & not make you feel sluggish. The reduction of processed sugars & increase of nutrient-rich foods would be ideal to support yourself through this period. 

 

  • Connection with others ~ You may find this in a close friend or a women's group that helps you feel heard, held & supported. Your local women’s circle or online community can really help. Ensure these groups are light & supportive, it can be easy to slip into trauma bonding, especially in some of the online groups. You may find a coach or mentor a fantastic way to help guide you through.

 

  • Space & Grace~ Give yourself some grace, It’s okay to feel the way you do, It’s what you do with the awareness of it that matters. Let’s put a stop to those numbing behaviors & start to craft the new reality your soul really desires. You may want to try some journaling, meditation, or emotional release when you start to feel a bit wobbly.
